Peter Lion was inclined towards writing from a very young age. During his maturing years in Connecticut he was seen dabbling in poetry as well as wrote a number of short stories. His talent in this field was further honed when after joining the Notre Dame High School in Connecticut he soon began contributing to the students school newspaper.
He set out to make a career of his passion with the words by first acquiring a degree in Journalism through the Southern Connecticut State University. He printed his first magazine article in the Hartford Magazine before he had graduated with his journalism degree.
He entered into the television business even before he’d finished his college. A few months before graduation, Peter Lion took up a job with WTNH-TV as a part time graphics operator. This television channel was an affiliate with the ABC network and was based out of New Haven. Peter Lion though, didn’t have experience in this field snapped up this chance to get an entry and also to develop a foothold in the news and tv industry.
He learned the ropes rapidly, understanding the technicalities in the workings of the television network and remained a part of the channel for over a period of two years.
He then transferred to Boston and started working with WSBK as a Technical Director. He labored on several projects, his major one being the Boston Red Sox Baseball and Boston Bruins Hockey. Nevertheless, his wish to be in television and his passion for writing pulled him back to his home state as a part of a small television station start up.
He joined this team as a director as well as a technical director for the 10 PM news cast, which was to become the first in the state. He grabbed this opportunity of showcasing his talent and knowledge as with his stint in Boston he’s had the capacity of working together with several accomplished directors. He used this understanding to develop the show from the beginning.
Peter Lion relocated to Pittsburg and joined KADA TV after completing two years with this start up. As part of his stint with this television network, he exploited the many elements of his talent and worked as a weather anchor, announcer, news producer, feature producer and director. It was during his stint at KADA-TV that Peter Lion found inspiration for his book titled The American St. Nick”.
He then moved back to Connecticut and became a part of ESPN sports network. Still an integral part of ESPN, he’s responsible for a number of their shows such as Sports Centre as well as the NFL Draft in his position within the organization as a Director. His main show however, remains, College Gameday.
He has been a 2 time winner of the Emmy awards, although he’s been nominated many times for his contribution in the television industry. He got his first Emmy for his work in Sports Centre and received his second Emmy for the show NFL countdown.
Apart from working, Peter Lion is presently working on his 2nd book. He is also a part of a band that goes by the name of Cheaper than Therapy” and is its lead singer and guitarist
